Terms of Service

Effective Date: September 8, 2026

1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the services, classes, workshops, events, consultations, products, websites, booking systems, communications, and related offerings provided by Maple Crumb Baking Studio Inc. (“Maple Crumb Baking Studio Inc.,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By booking, purchasing, attending, accessing, or using any of our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and any policies referenced herein.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use our services. If you are booking or using our services on behalf of another person, group, or organization, you represent and warrant that you have authority to bind that person or entity to these Terms.

2. Scope of Services

Maple Crumb Baking Studio Inc. operates a baking studio business offering the following services, which may be delivered in-person, virtually, or in a hybrid format, depending on the offering:

  • Baking classes for beginners and home bakers;
  • Custom cake design consultations;
  • Cupcake and cookie decorating workshops;
  • Private group baking events;
  • Seasonal dessert workshops;
  • Corporate team-building baking sessions; and
  • Take-home recipe kits and ingredient prep boxes.

We may modify, discontinue, or add services at any time, subject to applicable law and any specific written agreement for a particular booking or event. All services are subject to availability, age restrictions where applicable, studio capacity, safety requirements, ingredient availability, and compliance with health and safety standards.

Descriptions, images, menus, recipes, timelines, and examples provided in promotional materials are for general informational purposes only and may be updated or adjusted without notice.

3. User Obligations and Responsibilities

By using our services, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information when booking or communicating with us;
  • Ensure that all participants in your booking comply with these Terms;
  • Follow all studio rules, instructor directions, safety instructions, and hygiene protocols;
  • Disclose any food allergies, dietary restrictions, medical conditions, mobility limitations, or other relevant health concerns before participation;
  • Supervise minors if they are permitted to attend or participate, and accept full responsibility for their conduct and safety;
  • Use equipment, tools, ingredients, ovens, and facilities responsibly and only as directed;
  • Not engage in disruptive, unsafe, abusive, discriminatory, or unlawful conduct;
  • Not bring prohibited items, including hazardous materials, illegal substances, or anything that may contaminate food or endanger others;
  • Comply with applicable local, provincial, and federal laws, including food safety and public health requirements; and
  • Respect the rights, property, and privacy of other participants, instructors, staff, and guests.

You acknowledge that baking and decorating activities involve inherent risks, including but not limited to burns, cuts, slips, allergic reactions, food contamination, broken tools, and property damage. You assume responsibility for those risks to the extent permitted by law.

We reserve the right to refuse admission, remove any participant, or terminate a session without refund if we reasonably determine that safety, order, or compliance is compromised.

4. Payment Terms and Conditions

Unless otherwise stated in a written booking confirmation or invoice, all fees are due at the time of booking or upon receipt of invoice. Prices are quoted in Canadian dollars (CAD) unless expressly stated otherwise and may be subject to applicable taxes, including GST/HST/PST where applicable.

  • Deposits: Some bookings may require a non-refundable or partially refundable deposit to secure a class, event, consultation, or private booking.
  • Final payment: The remaining balance, if any, must be paid by the deadline stated in the booking confirmation.
  • Late payment: Late or missed payments may result in cancellation, suspension of service, or additional administrative charges where permitted by law and disclosed in advance.
  • Processing: Payments may be processed through third-party payment providers. You agree to comply with their terms and conditions as well as ours.
  • Chargebacks: You agree not to initiate a chargeback or payment dispute without first contacting us to attempt a good-faith resolution. Unwarranted chargebacks may result in collection efforts and recovery of related costs to the extent permitted by law.

For custom cake design consultations, private group events, corporate sessions, recipe kits, ingredient boxes, and other customized services, pricing may be based on design complexity, guest count, product quantities, lead time, special ingredients, venue requirements, travel, setup, cleanup, and other relevant factors.

5. Cancellation and Refund Policy

Because our services often involve reserved studio time, staffing, ingredient procurement, and preparation, our cancellation and refund policy is as follows unless a different written policy is provided for a specific offering:

  • Customer cancellations: Cancellations made with sufficient advance notice may be eligible for a partial refund, credit, or rescheduling option, depending on the service type and the timing of the cancellation.
  • Late cancellations: Cancellations made close to the event date may be non-refundable in whole or in part, especially where ingredients, staff time, custom materials, or venue arrangements have already been committed.
  • No-shows: Failure to attend a class, workshop, consultation, or event without prior notice will generally result in forfeiture of payment.
  • Rescheduling: Rescheduling requests are subject to availability and may incur administrative or price differences if the new date or service differs from the original booking.
  • Studio cancellations: If we cancel a service due to operational reasons, safety concerns, low enrollment, severe weather, illness, facility issues, or force majeure, we may offer a refund, credit, or alternate date at our discretion, subject to applicable law.
  • Custom orders and perishables: Custom cake design consultations, prepared ingredient boxes, take-home recipe kits, and bespoke event materials may be non-refundable once preparation has begun.

Any refund, credit, or rescheduling decision will be made in accordance with the specific booking terms, the stage of preparation, and applicable consumer protection laws in British Columbia and Canada.

6. Liability Limitations

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Maple Crumb Baking Studio Inc., including its directors, officers, employees, contractors, instructors, agents, and affiliates, shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of our services.

Without limiting the foregoing, we are not responsible for:

  • Allergic reactions or adverse health outcomes resulting from undisclosed allergies, sensitivities, or dietary restrictions;
  • Injuries caused by misuse of equipment, failure to follow instructions, horseplay, or unsafe conduct;
  • Damage to personal property brought into the studio or event location;
  • Delays or disruptions caused by third parties, supply shortages, weather, utility interruptions, or facility issues;
  • Outcomes of recipes, decorating results, or finished products that differ from expectations due to ingredient substitutions, participant technique, environmental conditions, or other factors beyond our control.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, fraud, or personal injury where such exclusion is prohibited.

You acknowledge that participation in hands-on baking activities may involve physical and food-related risks. You agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Maple Crumb Baking Studio Inc. from claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your breach of these Terms, your negligent or unlawful conduct, or the conduct of persons in your care, to the extent permitted by law.
